KARACHI Tahir Iftikhar disposed of his elder brother Arif Iftikhar in convincing fashion in the final to annex the 35 plus singles title of the Pakistan ITF Seniors Tennis Championship which concluded at the Karachi Gymkhana courts the other day.
Tahir was home 6-1, 6-2 to refresh the memory of spectators about his glorious past. The two brothers have represented the country in the Davis Cup ties in the past and appeared in a local contest after a long layoff. The 45 plus singles title went to Israr Gul of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who notched up 6-4, 4-6 (retired) victory over Imran Ahmed.
Iltifat Ahmed, a retired naval officer and maternal uncle of Iftikhar brothers, claimed the 55 plus singles crown after his opponent Sabih Wali retired in the first set at a score of 4-3.
