Seniors tennis starts tomorrow
KARACHI, Oct 10 The 11th Pakistan International Seniors Tennis championship gets into action at the Karachi Club on Monday with organisers expecting the arrival of three Indians on the opening day.
“The Pakistan government has issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the three Indians and they are likely to get visas on Monday,” secretary, Pakistan Seniors Tennis Association (PSTA), Khalid Rehmani, said on Saturday.
The three Indian players include P. S. Raju, Rakesh Kohlu and Ramesh Manchala, all belonging to Hyderabad (Deccan).
He disclosed that 50 entries have been received by now including three expatriates for the event which is world ranking category four contest.
Holders Shabbir Gul (35 plus) and Rashid Malik (45 plus) were not competing while Gul Hameed will defend his crown in 55 plus singles.
Apart from the singles, two doubles events will be held in 45 and 55 categories.
The annual event which has not attracted any veteran Davis Cupper across the country concludes on Oct 17.
