Rauf XI bulldoze Munawwar XI: Inter-club hockey
KARACHI, March 1 Nine more matches were decided in the Inter-club Hockey Championship-2009 on Sunday.
At the UBL Sports Complex, Colony Sports were given a walkover against Ghulaman-i-Abbas when the latter failed to show up.
TCS edged past Siraj XI 3-2. Centre-forward Mohammad Aslam earned a hat-trick by scoring all the three goals for the winners. Right-in Mohammad Haider scored both goals for Siraj XI.
Rauf XI gave Munawwar Zaman XI a 15-0 thrashing when all their players scored hat-tricks. Centre-forward Mohammad Farooque scored a double hat-trick (six goals) followed with hat-tricks by right-in Mohammad Hussain, Left-in Mohammad Salim and fullback Dilawar Khan.
Naval Star beat Malir Raiders 10-0. Centre-forward Mohammad Yaqoob (four goals), right-in Munawwar Khan (three), left-in Mohammad Siddiq (two) and fullback Abdul Majeed (one) were the scorers.
Al Sagheer Whites beat Pak Crescent 4-1. Centre-forward Kamal Hussain scored all the four goals for the winners.
Karachi Tigers beat Karachi Youngsters 1-0. The decider was scored by centre-forward Farooque Khan.
At the Hockey Club of Pakistan, Centre of Fitness Hockey Club was given a walkover when Rafa-e-Aam Gymkhana failed to turn up.
Rajput XI beat Bufferzone Gymkhana 5-4. Centre-forward Jameel Ahmed earned a hat-trick when he scored all the five goals for the winners. Centre-forward Naseer Ahmed and right-in Yunus Khan scored two goals each for the losers.
Jan Mohammad XI beat Nazimabad Mujahid 11-0. Hat-tricks were scored by Olympian centre-forward Salim Sherwani, right-in Jan Mohammad and left-in Khuda Bux while right-half Naveed-ul-Hassan and right-fullback Mohammad Junaid scored one each.
Gulberg Hockey Club beat Federal Sports 3-2. Centre-forward Nasim Hussain earned a hat-trick for the winners while Sagheer Ahmed scored two for the losers.
Al Faisal Hockey Club created a major upset by beating KPT 6-4 on penalty strokes after the score line remained 1-1 during regulation time.
Centre-forward Ghulam Hussain scored one for the winners and centre-forward Mohammad Ali equalised for KPT.
Later Al Faisal converted all the five penalty strokes to win the match while KPT could only convert three.
