Pakistan pull out of Indian snooker event
KARACHI, Feb 7 Pakistan will not compete in the Asian U-21 snooker championship which is being held in the Indian city of Pune in the second half of April.
“Yes we have pulled out of the April 18 to 24 Asian event in view of government's policy and the prevailing tension between the two nations,” president of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) Alamgir Shaikh said on Saturday.
He said the present scenario is quite appalling which is evident from the fact that the government has recently barred Pakistani cricketers to travel across the border.
He said the PBSA's domestic calendar is about to kick off with the National juniors U-21 snooker championship which is being held at the Karachi Club from Feb 22.
The event was revived by the PBSA last year after a lapse of over a decade.
