Faisalabad, Islamabad in Super League semis
KARACHI, Sept 15 Atlas Honda Faisalabad Bulls and Bahria Town Islamabad Tigers also proceeded into the semi-finals of the 1st MCB Junior Hockey Super League after beating their respective opponents on Monday evening.
Faisalabad sent home CDGK Karachi Dolphins by giving them an 8-5 defeat. The match had to be decided on penalty-strokes when the score remained 4-4 during regulation time.
Centre-half Mohammad Tauseeq scored a hat-trick (fourth, 35th and 71st mins) for Faisalabad and fullback Mohammad Rizwan added another (67th min).
Karachi's four goals were scored by left-in Zubair Ahmed (13th and 75th min), left-half Alle Imran (22nd min) and centre-forward Sarfaraz Ahmed (23rd min).
Later, Faisalabad was successful in converting four of the strokes and Karachi only one.
Faisalabad's Mohammad Rizwan was named the Man of the Match and presented the prize by Pakistan's junior team coach Khawaja Junaid. The match was umpired by Ihsan-ul-Haq Babar and Khawaja Naved.
In the fourth quarter-final, Bahria Town Islamabad Tigers beat Colony Multan Falcons 3-1. Left-in Abdul Jabbar scored two goals for Islamabad (10th and 74th mins) while right-in Arsalan added the third (40th min).
Multan's lone goal was scored by their captain and centre-forward Khurram Shahzad (74th min).
Islamabad's Arsalan was declared the Man of the Match and presented the prize by President, Punjab Hockey Association (PHA) Khawaja Zarrar Kaleem.
The match was umpired by Chaudhary Munawar and Mohammad Mushtaq.
The semi-finals will be played on Wednesday with Maksons Sialkot Eagles facing Rose Petal Lahore Lions at 9.30pm and Atlas Honda Faisalabad Bulls taking on Bahria Town Islamabad Tigers at 11.45pm.
