WILL the quota system in Sindh come to an end next month after completing 40 years?

The government may extend or abolish it. It has kept the province divided into rural and urban population where the rural population enjoyed a big edge over the urban one in case of appointments in government departments.

The following important points must be considered by the authorities before extending the same:

The system had allotted jobs on a different percentage basis depending upon population.

This basis should be revised as the population pattern has drastically changed during the last 40 years.

Why is it only in Sindh?

How long should it continue? There must be an end to it.

If this was and is a good policy, then it should have benefited the rural populace during all these 40 years and surely it has, bringing rural and urban population at par.

Why is this policy only applicable to jobs? It should also apply to admissions to colleges etc.

In fact, this policy is only benefiting affluent families, having rural domicile but living in urban areas reaping benefits of good education and then getting good jobs on a rural domicile basis.

The poor of those areas have not benefited from the system during the last 40 years ago.

This policy is providing a good job to a person who is at, say, position 240 from the rural area but depriving a person at, say, position 18 from the urban area.

After all, how long this injustice would prevail. If at all this has to be extended for any reason, then this policy must not apply to jobs in foreign office, DMG, police and other important areas where only merit should count.

It is an established fact that an overly protected child can never develop.
