Men adorned with a Janai or sacred thread, which is a yellow cotton string worn across the chest or tied around the wrist of the right hand, pray during the Janai Purnima Festival. The Janai Purnima Festival is known as the Sacred Thread Festival during which Hindu men, especially the Brahmans and Chettris, perform their annual changing of Janai or sacred thread.—Text by AFP/Images by Agencies
