KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Tuesday that the culture and heritage of Sindh was in danger and the Sindh festival announced by him was aimed at protecting it.
During a televised advertisement campaign for the Sindh festival, Bilawal declared what he called a cultural coup saying that the threat posed to "our civilisation" by the Taliban would be fought.
Speaking about the Taliban threat, the PPP chairman said "we were civilised five thousand years ago, which they (militants) are far from even today".
Bilawal, who also actively issues statements on his Twitter page, said "the Sindh festival will make us aware of our existence", adding that the festival, beginning from the first week of February, would be held across the province, including in Moenjodaro and the Makli heritage sites.
"We will tell the world that we are not as we are presented," he said adding that, "this will be the beginning of our annual cultural festivities. This is the sign of our progress. This is the first step towards the protection of our cultural centres."

@HS: Dear it is your thinking that might be corrupt. It is not written in Quran or Hadith that Politicians are Corrupt. Mullahs are more corrupt than politicians. Corruption exists is very roots of the Nation. so do not blame Politicians only. From the street hawker to the top of pyramid people are corrupt. very few are reasonable people.

Rs 150m spent by sindh govt on a party for 15 days. What a waste. They could have built 10 schools in this.
Sad that people actually think this is a good move.
I live in Khi and I am not a sindhi. who celebrates my culture. Do I need a seperate province for that? Most of Khi doesnt care about this so called festival.

Explain the S symbol widely associated and recognised b/c of SuperMan comics/movies used on promotional videos and posters please.
Even though you ( the organisers) may mean to project sindh and/or its heritage as ..i dunno..strong..or super by using that, it is a poor choice. Could have been something more deeply rooted in Sindhi culture- let alone a foreign languagae.

Good luck to Bilawal, PPP Provincial Govt. and, as a Pakistani (first and foremost by birth) and then a naturalised Sindhi (due to my North-Indian ethy and parental lineage) and as now domiciled as a British-Pakistani, my best wishes for the success of the Sindh Festival and the culture and remembrance & preservation of the 5,000 year-old heritage and the great civilisations of Sindh, esp. What signs of progress you are talking about? The only sign of progress we see is that your family has billions of dollars and properties all over the world. You live in mansions protected by hundreds of security gaurds while the majority of people of Sindh have no clean drinking water, no money to buy food or drugs and no jobs. You are planning festivals in Sindh and the people are worried about their next meal..Do you have anything to show for any progress or improvement in the lives of ordinary Sindhis? They were lot better off before your family robbed them of everthing.

Instead of a 'cultural coup', how about an "EDUCATION coup'? How about educating the mass people of interior Sindh? How about making them more aware of what is right and what is wrong? Their literacy ratio is still much lower even after 5,000 years of civilization. But, oops, if you gave them education and more maturity they will not buy your same centuries old slogan of 'Roti Kapda aur Makaan'. PPP always come up with same slogan in each elections. Nobody realizes the irony that if any political party is reusing the previous election slogans and promises, then it means the party failed to provide the people those needs. That's why slogan can still be reused. I am in for an 'EDUCATION COUP' for all of the Sindh, Are You, Bilawal?

If you, your father and your government (when PPP was ruling the country) spent an hour a day on making Pakistanis lives better, you would still be in power. All this talk about nothing means nothing to even people you claim to represent. Wake up and smell the coffee. The days of drama, acting and passionate speeches (written by others) are long gone. People are becoming smarter day by day and (I admit that 70% illiterates of the country will take sometime to wise up) but I can assure you that your party's days (and those of your opponents) are numbered.

Mr. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari - I just have one question for you - when are we going to see some action rather than just talk? And I am willing to bet that every word that comes out of your mouth - is in fact, not yours. You have a team of advisers whose job is to prepare speeches for you and try to make you someone who you truly aren't - a leader. If you want to prove me wrong - stop talking and do something. Instead of saying "we will show to the world" - maybe let the world say - Bilawal has protected the cultural centres - instead of protecting his personal assets.
