PESHAWAR: At least 25 suspected militants were killed early on Tuesday as F-16 jets bombed militant hideouts in the Tirah valley along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, military sources said.
Military jets targeted nine suspected insurgent hideouts in various parts of the Kokikhel area in Tirah valley of the Khyber tribal region, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed.
Pakistani fighter jets have been pounding targets in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) for the past couple of weeks.
The air strikes are the latest in a succession of such attacks carried out by the Pakistani military in the tribal belt this year.
The last were carried out in North Waziristan in late May, killing at least 75 people and causing some 58,000 people to flee from the district in fear of a fuller ground offensive that has been anticipated for years.
The Khyber district itself was targeted previously in April in aerial bombing that killed 37 people.
The district is believed to be home to several militant factions, most notably Lashkar-i-Islam, led by warlord Mangal Bagh, as well foreign fighters from Central Asia.

Well done PAF. Though if you guys were aware of the terrorists hiding place, you should have done this earlier itself instead of waiting for them to strike first.
Also make sure you don't end up killing innocent civilians on the ground. In air strike one can never be sure.

Are their any guarantees that the suspects were all militants and not ordinary civilians and children. Based on experience and events in FATA it may well be the case of the latter? that innocent civilians were killed and this breeds the cycle of violence and terror.

This small single tit for tat is of completely no use. We have seen this game go on for years. TTP does something the army does not like, and airforce launches a single airstrike. This is useful. We need to do a sustained areal bombardment of Taliban, that will shake them to their core, and then launch an massive ground assault.

The thing we don't understand is that as we become happy on killing them, very similarly they enjoy killing us. Two wrongs don't make a right. Why can't our 650000 Army go in, apprehend the culprits and then punish them in a court of law.
They just go in and bomb a place and say 25 killed, 60 killed etc. Don't tell me that these attacks are intel based and the greatness of our intelligence agencies. I mean a blind person can see their performance. These 25 might include women and children. The people whose family you kill and then leave comments like "kill the rats" - what do you expect from them when they get you?
Bombing poor people is not the solution, serving justice is the only solution.

@kashif Drones are used for surveillance of the areas after bombardment to confirm that the specific target was attacked accurately or weather more air strikes are needed. Sometimes ground forces also go in post-airstrikes to sweep the area
