BAHAWALPUR: In a speech to large public gathering, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Friday criticised Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and warned him of a 'tsunami march' to Islamabad on August 14 if his demands regarding alleged election fraud in the 2013 General Elections were not met, DawnNews reported.
In the speech to PTI supporters, Khan made four demands to Nawaz Sharif's government which he said he wanted to be addressed within one month.
He said that one million people will be gathered in the federal capital if his demands were not addressed.

Imran Khan's first demand was to know how Nawaz Sharif declared victory in the May 11 elections beforehand. Secondly he demanded to know the role played by former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhary in the elections.
Third he demanded to know the role played by the caretaker government in the elections, and specifically highlighted Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Najam Sethi.
His final demand was of the government to answer about voter fraud in 90 constituencies.
"All of Pakistan knows that the elections were rigged," Imran Khan said during his speech.
During the speech, he also warned Nawaz Sharif not to politicise the issue of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
He said that Nawaz Sharif should not make the mistake of thinking that unity over the Waziristan operation means that the PTI will not be a strong opposition.
The PTI chief also condemned the PML-N government in Punjab over its handling of Lahore tragedy, saying that the shooting of protesters only took place during dictatorships and not under democratic governments.
He also lashed out at the government for what he claimed fake economic growth during its tenure saying all he could see was “Jangla Bus Service,” referring to the Metro Bus Project in Lahore.

Criticisms of IK:
1. He is complaining in wrong forum.
Ans: He has already tried parliament, tribunals, courts and media for the past year, only streets remain.
2. IK should prove rigging:
Ans: Rigging has already been proven in the four constituencies. There is widespread evidence, even on official papers, try googling if your memory serves you wrong.
3. He should be with IDPs.
Ans: He was the first national leader to visit IDPs. His party has done more for IDPs than any other provincial or national govt. His govt is hosting all the IDPs. The federal govt did not even inform KPK govt to prepare for influx, instead PMLN and PPP have stopped IDPs influx.
4. He should stop complaining and opposing.
Ans: Welcome to actual democracy, you don't just bulldoze decisions past elected representivies, Pakistan is not your family business where kings and princes order the servants around. PM is the servant of public, not other way around.
5. PPP and PMLn
Ans: PPP knows if rigging episode manifests further, PMLn may loose seats in a fair election and will no longer command head of opposition. Which means PMLn and PPP will no longer be able to fix the next elections.

IK please talk sense and do some work in KPK. Transform KPK in a world class state instead crying over rigging. Even if we accept that rigging happened then ask yourself whether you can or can not be a Prime Minister. Wait for next election and perform in KPK then chances are there that you will win. You are losing charm. Please see in recent past elections in Malaysia and opposition leader complained about rigging but after doing 2-3 protest, Malaysian people advise him to accept the election and move on. Malaysian opposition leader is much respected and experienced then leader like you.

During Election emphasis is laid on to exercise the right to vote, and the people with a hope that their constitutional right will be honored through free,fair and impartial election process, they participate. Thus, a peoples representative as head of a political party is seeking proof of victory or defeat in a given election as his/her constitutional right, which is to be equally honored.
If at all the victory of one party and defeat of the other is genuine, justifiable, convincing and satisfying then why shy away from bringing the truth to the fore? Let there be a precedent and or proof of true and real democracy in Pakistan.

If Mr. IK reads Dawn comments - he will get some idea - where his popularity is heading - Darnas, Marches, jaloos -- are good only during election times; Even PTI could not get enough votes in KP to form one party govt. If Party can not get enough votes in provincial seats how you expect to win on Federal seats. Yes some rigging took place - and each and every party is complaining -- IK should work on next electoral reforms but warnings - durnas and jaloos - NO NO. Secondly his Bhawalpur speech is nonsense - their is no substance in it - all four points he raised is full of nonsense.. If the NS govt is toppled by way of a long march, what will stop PMLN from staging a similar long march to oust the future PTI government? IK don't set dangerous precedents, you will fall in the same grave that you dig for others.

IK is a great disappointment. His priorities are always misaligned from his condtituents'. Who killed more Pakistanis, jihadis or US drones? Now he is spending all energy in four seats while his province has major issues like lack of education, malnutrition, polio and others disease, poverty, human rights abuses, lack of safety, law and order. He should govern to prove his worth. Pakistan has enough people who can block roads and be public nuance.

When people like you have nothing to say or offer in your so called govt in KPK, they raised hollow slogans and play politics on issues like IDP"s which can be disastrous for the country, its time to help them. People are fed up of your tsunamis and marches. My advice to your advisors like tareen and Rashid who were also part of musharraf's govt, not to incite you on the wrong path in the prevailing situation. You can raise these issues in the parliament, ECP, Supreme/High courts and can settle the things through dialogue with the politicians (on the one hand you still want dailogue with the terrorists then why not with the country men good or bad to have dialogue). Dont put the innocent people on the wrong path again, when situation like karachi will engulf the whole nation.

PTI's demand might be justified I don't want to comment on this. But I am surprised how the former CJP has now become a villain for PTI! The PTI used to be delighted when PPP would cry out on former CJP's biased and unfair bashing of PPP and its workers! IK never raised an eyebrow when the former CJP in his hatred for PPP sent an elected PM packing despite parliament's resolution support him. PTI remained criminally silent when former CJP destablised Pakistan through Memo gate and many other such cases (mainly against PPP) which resulted in nothing for Pakistan. I wish if PTI had taken a principled stand at that time, they might not have to have faced this from former CJP now!!!! They are taking a stand now when they themselves have been hurt, it cannot be called a principled stand, it's just self-serving stand! Alas, PTI (a movement for justice) didn't stand for justice! :(

One is not aware whose agenda the great Khan is treading upon ,when he ' threatens Independence day march on capital'. For once why? doesn't the Captain display some sagaciousness, in view of the precarious conditions prevailing in the country , and make a public declaration that this independence day will be celebrated in a very befitting manner as a tribute to the founders of the nation. He could have his 'tsunami march' on the 15th , kindly be gracious Khan Sahib this time and give some breathing space to the entertainment starved citizens of Islamabad. .

Isn't it too late to cry for rigging? Imran desperately needs another political party who he can build some understanding and start scratching each other's back for mutual gain like Zardari and Nawaz are doing for the past at least six years. It was very sad to see Imran's absence from visiting IDPs but of course he didn't want to send mix signals to terrorists. People are losing trust in Imran Khan rapidly unless he proves in the near future to public that he is sincere, honest, greed free and capable of solving internal and external problems better than Zardari and Nawaz . for the so-called most educated political party the only thing they know to prove as strong opposition is react insensibly, create chaos. What the heck, they don't have a single educated person to write a draft for the changes in Electoral System. But before that what about KPK - there they are in power and yet not biometric system and the local body election. Nach na janay angan thaira was rightly said for PTI.

Imran Khan with certain pragmatic attributes, still, sometimes vocalizes the none-issues, the reason why the declaration was made on 11th May, by using the word Insha Allah (God Willing) was one of the probable statements of Nawaz Sharif, without emphasizing, Imran Khan knows it very well, and the popularity he gained was all by virtue of media-campaigns articulated in supporting Imran Khan. The Media channel playing front-line role in shaping the election campaign of PTI, in fact fake-painted the political situation as favouring PTI. The time has ripened for IK to start demonstrating and prompting the core issues of Pakistan

This guy Imran Khan loves the word 'tsunami'. He spoke of his party getting a "tsunami" vote during the last election. Sadly, the "tsunami" became only a trickle. Imran Khan could do well to be factual and result-oriented rather than behaving like a demagogue who thrives on populism. In the final analysis, he seems to be lacking a concept and direction. He just wants power at any price. His credibility has been considerably eroded because of his thoughtless comments and opportunistic actions (such as calling for dialogue with the Taliban) but remained mum after the recent Karachi airport attacks. He was also virtually silent on the horrendous attack on Malala, the girl student whose only fault was that she wanted a decent education.

I don't know what argument i can write here that will make people realise what they owe to this country. I am no fan of IK or PTI. But I don't see anything wrong in protesting against corruption or frauds in Election. All of us who are complaining that we should let the country move forward and IK should stop these protests, well you can do that, but nothing will come out of this, other than more problems and more corruption like past. That's true country is facing some serious issues, and needs addressing immediately, but we are forgetting all these issues are because of the people coming into power from these unfair elections. You can't keep giving paracetamol and expect pain from cancer will go away, you have treat cancer, otherwise sooner or later result will be death. We need to realise this until our elections are not true reflection of our votes. When you run a Govt, you have different ministries, and its their job to handle all issues simultaneously, you don't stop one because another issue has come up. So i don't see why people are complaining we should give up our other struggles because of another issue. IDPs right now are most important priority and need our help not just IK. Its just IK's responsibility, its is my and your responsibility to help them, to greet them like our brothers and sisters, accommodate them, feed them, educate them. If I am not doing it, I have no right in objecting others. May Allah show us the right path. IK is wrong on many issues, on many occasions and we should criticize him on these, but when he or anyone else is right people should support the right.

Is that Asking too much from the great Khan?

Imran Khan's claim that I won the last elections because I say I won them is utterly autocratic. He should be patient and let this system run even if it is flawed. IK has an enthusiastic following in the country and may very well win the next election. He may then form the government and implement his policies. But if he persists in playing the role of a spoiler now, others may do the same to him in the future.

Imran Khan, would it help if we renamed the country 'Shaukhat Khanum Abad'? Would you then show the same sense you obviously had when you worked to make that hospital a reality? You know some of us voted for you because of the wonders you achieved in that case but since then, what happened? Who's advising you, Mr Khan, or is this the real you? For God's sake, look at this country and the mess its in and how no one seems to care about it. Yes you lost the elections, yes the were undoubtedly not fair and there was a lot of rigging. But must you become just one more idiot politician? Must you join the rest and talk about nothing but past elections and long past tsunamis? Get a life, and go out there and do something for your constituents Captain. They're all over the field while you stand there yelling at the...who knows?
