LAHORE: PPP’s senior leader Jehangir Badr died of cardiac arrest late on Sunday night. He was 72.
A close aide to the late Benazir Bhutto and a die-hard PPP worker, Mr Badr was admitted to a private hospital in Defence after he suffered a heart attack in the evening.
According to a PPP leader, doctors tried their best but couldn’t save his life. Mr Badr had been ill for quite some time as he was suffering from kidney complications.
He had reduced his political activities because of his deteriorating health.
Born in 1944 in Lahore, Mr Badr started his political career as a student leader from the Punjab University. He was imprisoned during Gen Zia’s dictatorial regime. He served as a federal minister and a senator and also assumed various party offices.
He is likely to be laid to rest in Lahore on Monday.

He was die hard supporter of PPP. Under his provincial leadership PPP had remarkable achievment which lost during Wattoo era. He used to be friend of common political worker. So he was widely respected. I don't know why such a high calibre person supported Zardari and thus ended his own career too. Salute to him.........and God may shower His blessings! Amin

I was little boy when I use to see him on daily bases, he use to come to his brother's business office and I use to hang at my father's office, he use to buy my all sort of candy, We will miss him. Brave Person and nice family, I don't know if his brother is still alive (yaqoob)) please accept our condolences.

But I have a question. Is 'loyalty' a virtue in national
Politics? I think being independent is of higher value not only to your country but also to your own party. Had Badar sb shown some independence of mind and taken a stand against the hereditary politica of PPPP, his party would have fared better ij Punjab.
