LAHORE: Shakir Ali Museum is scheduled to organise a dance night tomorrow (Thursday) to pay tribute to acclaimed film music composer Baba Ghulam Ahmed Chishti, popularly known as G.A. Chishti, at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall, in collaboration with the Lahore Arts Council.

A number of film personalities, singers, TV actors and producers as well as other guests are expected to attend the event.

Dancers from the National Performing Arts Group will be taking to the stage at the event. Shakir Ali Museum Director Amna Pataudi told Dawn that in the past too they had paid tributes to various personalities from the film industry.

Baba Chishti was a towering music composer who adorned film music with many catchy and melodious tunes, she added.

Some National Performing Arts Group dancers and choreographer Zafar Dilawar told Dawn that they had been practicing on various popular tunes by Baba G.A. Chishti, including ‘Menu Allah di saun’, ‘Chhad jaween na channa baanh pharh ke’.

Dilawar said the girls and boys were fully prepared for the performance in connection with the tribute to the music composer.

Dancers Makhna, Zaib Chaudhry and Arsalan said that they hoped people liked their performance.

G.A. Chishti is attributed as one of the founders of Pakistani film music. He excelled at Punjabi compositions and produced music for around 100 films.
