Iqra University clinch T20 extravaganza after thrilling final

LAHORE: Karachi’s Iqra University beat Lahore’s Government College University in a nail-biting final to win the inaugural Caltex Cricket Extravaganza on the last ball of the match at the Aleem Dar Academy Cricket Ground here on Wednesday.

A sizeable crowd witnessed the thrilling final which turned out be a perfect climax for the T20 event that featured top universities and colleges from three major cities of the country.

Danish Aziz hit a match-winning 54 but the real hero for Iqra University was Abdul Moiz who hit a last-ball six to help his team chase down a tough-looking victory target of 198.

Najam Shamsuddin, Country Chairman of the Chevron Pakistan Lubricants (Private) Limited, was the chief guest on the occasion and gave away prizes to the winning team at an impressive closing ceremony. Also present at the occasion was Aleem Dar, one of the world’s most respected umpires.

Leading educational institutions from all over Pakistan featured in the Caltex Twenty20 Cricket Extravaganza which rolled into action simultaneously in various cities of the country on April 4.
