BAQAI College of Veterinary Sciences (BCVS) was established in 2002 under Baqai Medical University. BCVS is the first private veterinary college in Pakistan and is the only veterinary college in Karachi.

From 2002 to 2017, the college has produced 68 graduates. Presently, our college has 17 students.

However, it is not recognised by Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC). At the time of our admission, we were told it would be registered in a few days but now it is time of our graduation and we are still waiting for the promise to be fulfilled.

Baqai Medical University administration and the PVMC blame each other for not getting the university registered. The council says that the requirement for registration has not been complete, while the university claims it has completed its requirement, but the PVMC is not giving the university accreditation.

In this situation the students face serious problems in further studies and jobs. If our degrees are not registered and recognised, students’ future will be in jeopardy.

We cannot do any job, private or government, related to animal health. We cannot study further for master’s, MPhil or PhD.

The students approached Senator Taj Haider for seeking help but he failed to help us. We sent letters to the Sindh governor, chief minister, education minister and the chief justice of Pakistan, asking them to help but are still waiting for getting our issue resolved.

Who will help us?
