SAHIWAL: A transgender was allegedly burnt alive by unidentified people at a cab stand at Mall Mandi Chowk on Thursday.

The transperson, whose identity, could not be ascertained, was shifted to the Sahiwal DHQ Hospital to be referred to Lahore but the person died before arriving in Lahore.

The Fateh Sher police have yet to register a case into the incident.

Hospital sources say the transgender person suffered 80pc burns on the body.

Investigation Officer Jaffar Husain told Dawn the police under section 74 of the PPC handed over the body to the municipality staff which buried the body.
