DACCA: The East Pakistan branch of the Central Class I Civil Services Association has demanded immediate publication of the Pay and Services Commission’s report popularly known as the Cornelius Report and the implementation of the recommendations of all the Civil Services into one service.

The association in a meeting held here expressed the view that the sense of frustration and disappointment which crept into the services as a result of non-implementation of the Cornelius Report contributed to the present state of dissatisfaction and unrest in the country. They emphasised that the Cornelius Report and many other expert reports had correctly highlighted the shortcomings and inequities in the existing administrative set-up in the country and had suggested remedies thereto, and believed that the shelving of all these reports had completely demoralised the various services.

[Meanwhile, as reported by an agency in Rawalpindi,] Half a dozen working journalist leaders from both the Wings of the country expressed here yesterday [March 10] the determination of their fellow workers to continue the struggle for Press freedom.
