DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Anti-Corruption Establishment on Monday registered a case against PML-N Punjab secretary general MPA Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari and (defunct) South Punjab Forest Company former head Tahir Rasheed for alleged illegal land allotment.

The case under section PCA 52/47 and 409 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) has been registered against Mr Leghari as former chairman of the company that is no more functional.

The company was established by the PML-N government under public-private partnership for forestation in south Punjab.

Later, it was stopped from working by the PTI’s Punjab government led by Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

Mr Leghari told Dawn that since his assuming of charge as PML-N Punjab secretary general, he was being victimised through institution of fabricated EAC case against him.

PML-N Punjab secretary general alleges victimisation

He said 80,000 acres of state land were allotted to local and foreign companies through a “transparent process” to make the south Punjab lush green and pollution free.

He said that with the elimination of the company by the PTI provincial governmnet, as many as 15,000 people had been rendered jobless.

He said that he would challenge the elimination of the company in court.

Mr Leghari is son of former president of Pakistan, late Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari.
