GUJRAT: The Punjab University of Technology (PUT), Rasul, Mandi Bahauddin, may work under a chancellor’s committee until the formation of its syndicate since the varsity administration is facing multiple issues relating to the execution of future plans.

Prof Dr Shabbar Atiq, vice-chancellor of the University of Gujrat (UoG), who also holds additional charge of the PUT Rasul, has written to the provincial industries department seeking the constitution of a chancellor’s committee as a makeshift arrangement for the administrative decisions since the formation of syndicate of the varsity has yet to be done.

The act of PUT Rasul was approved by the Punjab Assembly in May 2018. The incumbent government handed over the additional charge of VC, registrar, treasurer and controller examination offices to the officers posted on same seats in the UoG few months ago.

Mr Atiq met the Rasul college staff on Wednesday.

The PUT Rasul was established by the provincial industries department, not by the Higher Education Department. Also, the principal of the Rasul college is being appointed as the coordinator by the VC secretariat to assist the varsity administration to make the varsity campus functional.

The VC secretariat has planned to launch classes in electrical, mechanical and civil technologies in 2020 as Rs325 million has been sought for initial civil infrastructure of the the PUT.

Mr Atiq will spend Saturdays in the Rasul college. Mr Atiq has also been given the additional charge of the VC University of Mianwali besides being the project director of the University of Narowal.
