KARACHI, Aug 27: A report against the Pakistan Army soccer team officials would be submitted to the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) for misconduct and threatening the referee with dire consequences during a Premier League match against KPT, officials said on Saturday.

The match commissioner Ali Nawaz Baloch said he would submit a written report to PFF for misconduct of Army team officials manager Major Shafqat Mahmood and coach Subedar Mohammad Afzal for misconduct and using foul language.

“I will definitely submit a report to PFF against the behaviour of Army manager and coach for misconduct and using abusive language against the referee. Not only players but team officials are also required to follow the code of conduct and they should be punished if they break it,” Ali told Dawn after the match.

After few debatable decisions by referee Younus Lal during the first half, Army coach Afzal came to match commissioner and other officials during the halftime protesting over the decision and using abusive language against the referee.

The coach then came to stadium where Younus was resting and protested while threatening and abusing the referee.

“Army manager Shafqat tore and returned the slip we had sent to him confirming a yellow card to their player Abid. This will also be reported,” Ali Nawaz said.

Ali Nawaz confirmed that Army team officials did not submit a written official complaint or protest against the referee of the decisions.

Referee Younus said he would also submit a report complaining against the misconduct of coach Afzal, Army skipper Jaffar Khan and other players. “Afzal came to me during break and said I am favouring Karachi’s team, saying have fear of God while abusing and threatening me. Army team captain Jaffar and his team-mates also abused me and threatened after the match by saying how will I go home today.”
