PESHAWAR: An Ahmadi family was rescued by police after a mob surrounded their house in the early hours of Thursday morning over an argument about a public event, police said.

Police officials told Dawn that a large number of people gathered outside the house in the limits of Phandu police station on the outskirts of the city after an argument erupted over the public gathering that took place a few days ago.

The officials said a large contingent of police was sent to the scene which rescued the five-member family and shifted them to an unknown location.

No FIR was registered, they added.
