LAHORE: The PCB U-16 National One-day Tournament of the 2020-21 season will be staged in Rawalpindi from Feb 13 to 23.

The squads will assemble in Rawalpindi on Feb 6 and following their training and practice sessions from Feb 7 to 12 at the Ayub Park Cricket Ground, they will go head to head in a single-league 45-overs-a-side tournament from Feb 13.

The top two sides will feature in the final at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Feb 23 with the winning side receiving Rs350,000 and the runners-up Rs250,000.

Though junior chief selector Saleem Jaffar has finalised 20-member squads for the six-team event, which include five reserves, the PCB has only invited 16 due to Covid-19 restrictions.

According to the PCB, as per its Covid-19 protocols, all players will require negative tests in their hometowns and will then need another negative result after checking-in in a hotel before being allowed to train, practise and integrate with fellow cricketers.

“Player born on or after Sept 1, 2004 are eligible to participate in the 16-match tournament. The squads have been finalised following open trials held at 18 different venues of the country, details of which were announced on Nov 12 via a media release,” the PCB stated.
