KARACHI: A woman and a boy were found murdered in the outskirts of the city on Monday, according to Steel Town police.

They added that the two bodies of a female (25-30) and a boy (10-15) were recovered from a link road.

Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur said that the woman’s body was burnt while the body of the boy was smashed. The senior officer added that the bodies were recovered from an abandoned place around one kilometre away from the road, which links Steel Town with Superhighway.

The bodies were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) to ascertain exact cause of death. Their identity could not be ascertained immediately.

Police inspector commits suicide

A police inspector reportedly committed suicide in Saddar area on Monday, according to police.

They added that Inspector Amjad Kiani, 45, ended his life by shooting himself inside his official residence at Saddar police line.

The body was shifted to JPMC to fulfil legal formalities.

South SSP Zubair Nazeer Shaikh said the police were investigating the case. He said they were waiting for doctors’ post-mortem examination report. Initially, the senior officer said the family told the police that the inspector had committed suicide. The deceased was not posted at any police station.

Another officer, Saddar SHO Arshad Afridi, said the victim was reportedly “mentally upset” for the last one-and-a-half years.

Meanwhile, IGP Sindh Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar took notice of the alleged suicide of Inspector Amjad Kiani and sought a detailed inquiry report from South SSP, said police spokesperson.
