MIRAMSHAH: Gunmen attacked the security squad of the North Waziristan tribal district’s deputy commissioner on Tuesday, killing two people, including a policeman. Three guards were injured in the attack.

They said the attackers ambushed the squad in Epi area, some three kilometres from Mirali town. The attackers escaped after the attack. An official said that two people were killed in the attack, Constable Alaf Rehman and a passer-by called Hayatullah. Three personnel of the squad — Faqir Mohammad, Zar Nawaz and Saleemullah — were injured in the attack.

The injured personnel were shifted to the government hospital in Mirali town.

Soon after the attack, shops and markets in Mirali town were closed.
