ISLAMABAD: Robbers looted cash and valuables worth Rs18.4 million from a house while seven vehicles were also stolen in different parts of the capital.

Police said four robbers entered the house of Mohammad Amin at F-10/2 and after taking the inmates at gunpoint looted cash, ornaments and mobile phones.

They also took away a heavy bike and a Range Rover from the house.

Moreover, seven vehicles were stolen from different areas of the capital.

A Suzuki Pickup was stolen in Bhara Kahu while a motorcycle was lifted from I-8/3. Thieves also took away a motorcycle from outside a house at I-8/1 and another from Shahzad Town.

One motorcycle each was lifted from Kashmir Socity, Golra and F-7 Markaz.

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kousar asked the officers concerned to ensure protection of life and property of the citizens.

At a meeting held to review crime, the DIG told the officers that they were duty-bound to protect the life and property of the citizens. The officers were told that neither he (DIG) nor the IGP were satisfied with the performance of the officials from the rank of station house officer (SHO) to the superintendent.

Incidents of robberies, including murders during robberies, were also discussed, the police said, adding the SHOs, SDPOs and SPs were warned over their poor performance.

The DIG asked the concerned to take special steps to check car lifting and arrest of the vehicle lifters.
