MUZAFFARGARH: Seven members of a family were burnt alive in a house fire late on Saturday night when they were asleep in a room in Peer Jahanian town.

Police and Rescue 1122 shifted the bodies to District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination. The deceased included Fauzia, her infant son Ahmad, Khursheed Bibi, Mohammad Farooq, Sarfraz, Yaqub and Shahnawaz.

According to a statement by Mahboob, the family member who survived the fire as he was away at the time of the incident, it was a planted fire by his in-laws to avenge his love marriage with Fauzia Bibi some 15 months ago. The station house officer concerned said an FIR had been registered against Manzoor Hussain and Sabir Husain, father-in-law and brother-in-law of complainant Mahboob, alias Kala Khan.
