DADU: President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto said here today [July 26] that there was no justification for the renewed disturbances in Karachi, even after the language accord had been approved and applauded by all sections of society. ... He regretted the incidents of violence in Karachi for the second time, in which the hooligans there had set fire to a few buses and shops. He pointed out that these insane acts were being committed in Karachi when the City needed 3,000 more buses... .

… The President warned that such acts of violence could bring about a chain reaction, which the Government was trying to prevent at all costs. … President Bhutto said: “When you throw a stone on Burns Road, Karachi, remember it will have repercussions in Jacobabad, for instance.” One small incident could lead to a major flare-up elsewhere, he added. — Staff correspondent

[Meanwhile, as reported by news agencies in New Delhi,] The summit accord reached between India and Pakistan at Simla was understood to have been approved by the Indian Cabinet... . The agreement now will go to President V.V. Giri who will ratify it by signing the document. External Affairs Minister Swaran Singh is expected to make a statement... .
