ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has offered to be interrogated through video link in an FIR registered over protest outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) following decision in Toshakhana case and attack on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha.

Additional District and Session Judge Zafar Iqbal when resumed the hearing, Khan’s counsel Baber Awan sought his exemption from appearing in court proceedings on medical grounds.

Ranjha argued that Mr Khan speaks about justice but he was not appearing before the police for interrogation.

He suggested that Mr Khan should have joined the investigation to prove that he believes in supremacy of law.

Awan offered that PTI chairman was ready to join the investigation as well as the proceeding of the court through video link.

He also requested the court to mark attendance of his client through a video link.

The judge was on the other hand of the opinion that the attendance through video link could only be marked in the civil matters while the case in hand was of the criminal in nature.

Further hearing in this matter was adjourned till Feb 27.

Meanwhile, the anti-terrorism court (ATC) of Islamabad has given the last opportunity to Imran Khan to appear on Feb 15 in the similar case registered by the state.

ATC judge Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan rejected his request for exemption from appearance on medical grounds.

The court, however, granted him last opportunity to appear on Feb 15.

The prosecutor told the court that Imran Khan was seen walking in a video released from the Zaman Park.

Further hearing in this case has been adjourned till Feb15.
