Two-goal Hikmat lifts Fata

LAHORE, Feb 1: Two goals by Hikmat enabled Fata to beat Wohaib Club, Lahore 2-0 on the opening day of the 2nd National U-14 football championship at Punjab Stadium on Wednesday.

The winners led the first half 1-0. Fata faced a tough challenge from Wohaib Club but were more effective in their goal scoring opportunities.

Hikmat put Fata 1-0 ahead in the 25th minute scoring a field goal in the 23rd minute.

He doubled the lead in the 47th minute to seal the fate of the match.

Divisional Public School (DPS), Model Town, Lahore held Azad Jammu and Kashmir to a goalless draw.

DPS, under left-winger Nasir Dar, put up a fine display in a Group-A match.

Three goals by Jamil helped Balochistan crush Railways 12-0. He struck in the 10th, 40th and 42nd minute.

Zubair (15th, 45), Bilawal (20th, 22nd) and Jalil (27th, 55th) scored twice.

Other scorers were Sher Afghan (32nd min), Abdul Karim (50th minute) and Taqi ( 56th min).

Afghan Club Chaman also carved out a big 11-0 win against Lahore Grammar School.

Twelve teams are taking part in the six-day event.
