KARACHI: Even with the party’s political future in turmoil, it seems that the upper echelons of the PTI are still not ‘on the same page’.

On Friday, a day after it was revealed that party founder Imran Khan had backed Barrister Ali Zafar for the post of party chairman, firebrand Sher Afzal Marwat questioned his fellow lawyer’s ability to manage the party’s affairs.

Speaking to Shahzeb Khanzada on Geo News, Mr Marwat said that judging from his comments, Barrister Zafar is “perhaps not mentally ready” to accept the nomination as the next party chairman.

“It is now clear that Ali Zafar perhaps is not presenting his services for the position due to his professional engagements” as a lawyer, Mr Marwat said.

However, he said that the party founder would now make a final decision in the matter.

Mr Marwat also commented on Barrister Gohar Ali Khan’s abilities, saying he was “removed” as the chairman over “unsatisfactory” performance, Geo News reported.

“Incompetence and poor performance are the reasons behind Gohar’s removal as chairman. Barrister Gohar is a gentleman but his performance was not satisfactory,” Mr Marwat was quoted by the channel as saying.
