PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Monday directed the secretaries of government departments to propose only feasible schemes for the next Annual Development Programme and said any schemes that couldn’t be completed within the stipulated time period shouldn’t be put forward.

He also said adequate funds should be allocated every year for the schemes reflected in the ADP to ensure their completion on time.

Mr Gandapur issued the directions while chairing a meeting here regarding the Annual Development Programme for 2024-25, according to an official statement.

The meeting discussed the irrigation, public health engineering and road projects proposed for the upcoming ADP.

The participants included minister for irrigation Aqibullah Khan, public health engineering minister Pakhtunyar Khan, communication and works minister Shakeel Khan, adviser to the chief minister on information Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, administrative secretaries and other high-ups of the relevant departments.

They were briefed about the ongoing and proposed projects of the irrigation, public health engineering and communication and works departments for inclusion in the ADP 2024-25. While issuing policy directives about the new ADP, the chief minister directed high-ups of those departments to accord top priority to the ongoing schemes, especially those slated for completion, for the allocation of developmental funds.

He said that the government would make nocompromise on the quality of work in development schemes.

Mr Gandapur directed high-ups of the public health engineering department to come up with a proposal for the installation of water filtration plants in the provincial capital to supply clean drinking water to the residents.

He said that special attention should be given on the provision of clean drinking water to the people of southern districts in the province.

The chief minister directed high-ups of the department to take strict action against those selling drinking water from government tubewells.

He also issued directions to authorities to build the capacity of departments to ensure effective monitoring of development schemes in the province.
