KARACHI: The leakage of gases from an ice factory in North Karachi on Sunday caused “breathing problems” for residents, according to police and rescue services officials.

Central SSP Zeeshan Shafiq Siddiqi said that the gas leakage took place in the ice factory within the remint of the Bilal Colony police station.

He said the gas was leaking from a compressor pipe that was fixed in time with the help of rescue services and fire brigade officials.

Rescue-1122 official Hassaan Khan told Dawn that the ice factory was located in a residential area.

He said because of the gas leakage, residents experienced breathing problems and burning eyes.

He said the leakage issue was resolved in presence of the owner of the factory.
