ISLAMABAD: A plan has been prepared to upgrade the National Police Academy (NPA) along modern lines for the first time in the history.

According to details, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday visited the National Police Academy and presided over a high-level meeting in the committee room regarding the restructuring of the academy.

It has been decided to develop the National Police Academy on the model of the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul. The interior minister announced that an Elite Force Training School will also be established within the academy.

Keeping in view the demands of the modern era, it has been decided to establish a Technical Training Centre and indoor and outdoor firing ranges.

The minister also directed that the department concerned to expand and beautify the parade ground.

During the meeting, the minister was briefed on the National Police Academy’s upgradation plan. Mohsin Naqvi ordered construction of a residential block for under-training officers on priority basis.

He also directed the management of the academy to submit a master plan after incorporating necessary modifications. During the meeting, it was decided that the restructuring project of the National Police Academy will be implemented in phases.

The minister said he wanted to transform the National Police Academy into an international standard institution, where officers from abroad should come for training.
