GUJRAT: A former MNA of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) from Lalamusa, Syed Faizul Hassan Shah, has been sent to Gujrat district jail on judicial remand for 14 days.

It is learnt that Lalamusa Saddar police had arrested Mr Shah on Monday in connection with a case lodged against him on different charges regarding the Nov 26 Long March call by the PTI last year.

Mr Shah, his nephew Wajahat Shah, a PTI-backed independent candidate from Lalamusa NA seat in last year’s Feb 8 elections, and scores of the PTI workers had also been booked in that case.

Faizul Hassan Shah was produced before the court of a magistrate in Kharian by Lalamusa police and the court sent him to Gujrat district jail on judicial remand.

Belonging to a strong Kulewal Syedan group of Gujrat, Mr Shah had been elected as an MNA on PTI ticket in the 2018 general elections by defeating PPP stalwart Qamar Zaman Kaira and PML N’s former minister for state Jaafar Iqbal Fatta Bhand.

However, he did not contest the February 2024 polls and fielded his nephew Wajahat Shah as a PTI-backed independent candidate from NA-65 (Lalamusa-Dinga) Gujrat district.
