GUJRAT: The Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) on Tuesday postponed the matriculation second group’s Tarjamatul Quraan and Ethics papers for the first annual examinations 2025 after reports of leakage of question paper.

However, the same paper for the students appearing in the first or morning group was conducted smoothly.

As per schedule, at least 101,457 candidates had to appear at 668 centres across Gujranwala and Gujrat regions, in the second group’s Tarjamatul Quraan paper, whereas around 3,216 non-Muslim students were scheduled to sit for the exam at 484 centres to take the Ethics paper in the second group on Tuesday.

According to a press release issued by the examination controller, both papers will now be held on April 21 at the same time.

Official sources say the papers of these subjects had been postponed after the leakage of question paper. However, the controller in the press release said the paper was postponed due to unavoidable circumstances, without mentioning any particular reason for the move.

FOUR HELD: The FIA has arrested four people on human trafficking charges, a spokesperson for the agency said.

Among the arrested, M Kamran from Gujranwala is accused of taking Rs2.3m from the complainant’s brother-in-law for travel to Greece.

Similarly, Rafique of Narowal allegedly extorted Rs1.8m from Anas with promises of sending him to Austria.
