TURIN: Multiple Pakistan’s special athletes advanced to the finals of the snowshoeing and cross-country skiing events during the 12th Special Olympics World Winter Games on Wednesday.

Pakistan’s trio of Mohammad Afaq, Tabassum Nasir and Shah Galoon led the charge, qualifying for the 100-metre snowshoeing final and the 4x100-meter relay divisioning race.

On Thursday, all 10 Pakistani athletes will be in action, with Rovina Qurban and Muneeb Ur Rehman competing in the 50-metre cross-country skiing final. Both athletes will also participate in the 100-metre final race on Saturday.

In the 200-metre snowshoeing final races on Thursday, four Pakistani female athletes and three male athletes will vie for medals, while Moazzam Iqbal will compete in the 800-metre event.

The 100-metre and relay snowshoeing races are scheduled for Friday, with the 400-metre race set to take place on Saturday.

The 12th Special Olympics World Winter Games will conclude on March 17.
