KHYBER: A tribal elder was among six persons killed in three different incidents in Bara on Wednesday, the police said.

They said that Malak Naseeb Khan of Sipah tribe was busy shopping in the main Bara Bazaar when a young boy fired multiple shots at him from behind, leaving him critically injured. The elder succumbed to his injuries while being taken to a hospital.

Family sources said that a son of the tribal elder was also accompanying him, but he was parking his car nearby when the shots were fired.

They said that though they were still not sure as to who was behind the killing they conceded that they had an old enmity.

The police registered a case against the unknown assailant and started investigations.

Meanwhile, four children were killed and six others were injured when the boundary wall of a house collapsed in Charsiyan village of Madakhel, Bara, due to strong winds.

The deceased were identified as Kamran, Abdullah, Bilal and Usman, and the injured included Hamza, Adnan, Ehsan, Hasnain, Shoaib and Maaz, who were shifted to a hospital.

Also in Bara, a teenage boy, identified as Ahmad, died by suicide.

Family sources of the 16-year-old said that he had been under mental stress for last few days, and ultimately ended his life by shooting himself with a pistol.
