LAHORE: DIG Operations Faisal Kamran placed under suspension the Station House Officer (SHO) of Johar Town, along with the station’s clerk and four constables.

The action was taken on the complaint of son of an MPA, who accused the officers of demanding bribe from him.

Following an investigation, the officials were found guilty. Additionally, the supervisory officer, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sadar, has been asked to explain the oversight.

DIG Faisal Kamran reaffirmed that corruption and misuse of authority are red lines that no officer will be allowed to cross. Highlighting the department’s accountability efforts over the past 11 months, the DIG said 355 officers and personnel faced departmental penalties for corruption, abuse of power and negligence in duty.

Among them, 17 officers were dismissed from service, two clerks were forcibly retired, eight officials had their salaries deducted, including inspectors, sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors, head constables and clerical staff.
