LAHORE: Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain presided over a meeting in Islamabad to review the eight-month performance of the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI).

The meeting was attended by EOBI acting chairman Dr Jawaid A. Sheikh, and Deputy Director General (Operations) Muhammad Amin who briefed the minister on the institution’s progress.

During the review, it was highlighted that EOBI had collected Rs50 billion in contributions from employers and employees over the past eight months. Additionally, the institution has earned Rs54 billion from investments, reflecting an impressive 41 per cent growth rate, says a press release.

The officials informed the minister that EOBI was currently serving approximately 850,000 beneficiaries and had disbursed Rs37.5bn in pension payments during this period.

After covering operational and management expenses, as well as pension payouts, EOBI recorded a net profit of Rs65.7bn in the first eight months of the current financial year.

The federal minister appreciated EOBI’s performance and emphasised the need for continued efforts to serve the public and workers efficiently.
