DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Police and public representatives agreed here on Thursday to devise a joint strategy for restoring peace and eradicating crime.

The meeting was held in Ranwal Addain light of people’s complaints about the rising incidents of robberies and crimes in the Saraiki belt’s Jattatar area.

The participants included DSP Saleem Baloch, relevant SHOs and representatives of residents.

The participants agreed on all possible measures to restore peace and protect public life and property.

Focal person for the CM Farhan Hakeem Khan said that concrete measures would be taken to act in line with people’s suggestions.

A day ago, armed robbers snatched a motorcycle, cash and mobile phones from multiple individuals in Ranwal area. Residents of the Saraiki belt called a meeting to discuss the issue.

Jattatar elders met Tank district police officer Aslam Nawaz Khan in his office and informed him about the growing crimes and security issues in the area.

The DPO assured them of all possible measures to improve the law and order situation.

He said that controlling crime and maintaining peace and stability was not possible for police without people’s cooperation and support.

The DPO said that every effort would be made to address people’s grievances regarding their vulnerability. The visitors pledged complete cooperation and support to police for crime control.

BODY FOUND: A boy was found dead in a street near Eidgah-Kalan early on Thursday.

The deceased was aged six or seven years, with the body carrying clear torture marks, according to the police. They said they had collected evidence and shifted the body to the district headquarters hospital for postmortem and identification.

The police said that they had registered a case and initiated an investigation. The residents have complained about the rising crime rate in the region and demanded of law-enforcement agencies to protect their lives and property.
