THIS is with reference to the report ‘Israel flouts ceasefire as air strikes kill over 400 in Gaza’ (March 19). The Zionist vandals are on a rampage again, leaving behind nothing but devastation and death. The fragile ceasefire between a heavily armed oppressor and a besieged, starving population stands shattered.

The world must not ignore the glaring hypocrisy of the United States, the self-proclaimed champion of peace. The Trump administration, specifically informed of Israel’s planned offensive, did nothing to prevent it. Instead, it continues to funnel military aid to ensure that Israel remains equipped to continue its killing spree.

The fragile ceasefire was never really respected by Israel. Gaza had remained under complete blockade even before the latest air strikes, with essential supplies, medicine and fuel being syste-

matically denied. The West Bank, too, has been turned into a battlefield, with Palestinian homes being bulldozed and entire communities forcibly displaced.

Israel, a colonial settler state, continues to act with unchecked aggression, tram-pling over human rights and international laws with complete disregard and impunity.

The atrocities inflicted upon Palestinians surpass even the darkest horrors of history. This is a slow, systematic genocide, carried out in full view of a paralysed international community. The world must not remain silent. The bloodshed in Palestine is a stain on the conscience of the world.

The time for empty words has passed. Only decisive action can prevent further catastrophe.

History will remember who stood for justice and who enabled genocide. The world must act before it is too late.
