Justice Hakeem passes away

ISLAMABAD, Jan 4: Justice (Retd) Abdul Hakeem Khan, former Governor NWFP and ex-Chief Justice Peshawar High Court (PHC) died here on Thursday night after protracted illness. He was 90.

His Namaz-i-Janaza will be offered at his native village Baffa in Mansehra at 3 pm on Friday.

The deceased is survived by ten children including seven daughters and three sons—- Col (retd) Abdul Quddus Khan, Justice (retd) Abdul Rauf, Brig (retd) Asad Hakeem.

Mr Khan who was admitted to the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Hospital on Wednesday and he died at 10 pm on Thursday.

He had served as NWFP governor for one-and-a-half year and his service as chief justice, PHC, lasted for three years. One of the important aspects in his career is that he had worked as deputy secretary with West Pakistan Law Department.

Mr Khan had enjoyed a long career in judiciary as he had performed as sessions judge in many districts like Gujrat, Jehlum, D I Khan. He was famous for his expertise in family laws and even after his retirement he was consulted in many famous cases. Besides, he has been serving as advisor to Islamic International University after his retirement.
