ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday (SC) issued notices to all respondents in the controversial memogate case, including former Ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani and American businessman Mansoor Ijaz.

A nine-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will hear the case on July 12, 2012.

The judicial commission tasked with probing the memogate scandal has already submitted its report  to the apex court. The report holds Haqqani guilty of authoring the controversial memorandum – the document delivered to US officials seeking assistance to overthrow the top military brass of the country.

However, Haqqani, on his Twitter account, strongly denied the accusations pertaining to his alleged involvement in the scandal.

The scandal came into the limelight last year when Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz claimed of having received a message from Haqqani to deliver a confidential memo to US Admiral Mike Mullen.

The memo allegedly talked of a possible military takeover in the aftermath of the Abbottabad raid when a team of US marines arrived by helicopter and killed former al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in his compound on May 2, 2011.

Haqqani resigned from his position as ambassador to the US following the case.
