Khayal Amrohi passes away

MULTAN, May 14 Known poet, writer and educationist Dr Khayal Amrohi died after protracted illness at Layyah on Thursday morning. He was 79.

Dr Khayal Amrohi was author of 25 books on different topics, including four on poetry. He was born at Berr in Haiderabad Deccan on Dec 10, 1930. He did Urdu (Fazil) in 1944 and obtained master degree in Persian language in 1949.

After the creation of Pakistan he settled in Karachi and then Lahore.

His real name was Syed Ali Mehdi Naqvi.

He served in government and private sectors and later joined the education department in 1964 and settled permanently in Layyah. He also did Ph.D from Iran.—APP
