LAHORE, Sept 28 Pakistan Cricket Board, after two unsuccessful attempts, finally succeeded in announcing a full calendar for its domestic season 2009-10 here on Monday after in a third attempt.

The season has already started with Regional Inter-district U-19 tournament, which will be completed on Oct 18.

In the second phase, the PCB announced the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy, the country's premier first-class tournament, starting from Oct 10. And now in the third phase, it has announced the entire programme. Announcing the domestic season in three stages happened for the first time after many decades, showing how seriously the PCB management takes it.

The PCB has also twisted the schedule, holding the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy first and delaying its second tier inter-district Senior tournament as last in April next year.

Total 22 teams (13 regional and nine departmental) will be played in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy. The teams have been divided into two groups. Bottom two departmental teams will be relegated to Patron's Trophy Grade-II Tournament for the next season 2010-11.

The Pentangular Cup, a five-team most competitive contest, will be held from Jan 1 to Feb 4. Two top teams of region and departmental of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy along with Rest of Pakistan will feature in it. The national selection committee, headed by Iqbal Qasim, will select the rest of the Pakistan side.

Moreover, national one-day tournament will be organised from Feb 10 to 23, in which 22 teams, divided into four groups, will compete.

Patron's Trophy Grade-II will be held from Feb 27 to April 4, 2010. A total of 20 teams divided into 4 groups are competing. Both the finalist teams will be promoted to Quaid-i-Azam Trophy for the next season i.e. 2010-2011.

The most popular domestic tournament — the Twenty-20 Cup — will commence from March 20 to 24. Total 13 regional teams will contest.
